Name: K•NOR

Location: Brooklyn, NY

Start date: Making art under my alias since 2013.

Influence: Horror movies, picture books, skate graphics and punk rock, combined with an unhealthy fascination with graffiti and a general appreciation for people who push their own imaginations.

Effect: Good or bad, I just want my art to have an effect on people. I think the worst art is the kind that you look at and don’t think twice about.  Ultimately I am telling my own story and doing what I love, so if I can get a stranger to relate to what I am trying to say or inspire them to push their own creativity– those are all bonus points in my book.

Long run:  My goal is to never stop challenging what I think I am capable of as an artist.  For me, this means getting outside of my comfort zone as much as possible and trying to express myself in unfamiliar ways that are not guaranteed to work. Over the next few years I want to paint more, paint bigger, continue collaborating with people that inspire me and fail as often as I succeed.  Before I am dead and buried I want everyone to know my name.

Name: Mathew Curran

Location: North Carolina & Los Angeles

 Start Date:
I have always been involved in art as far as I can remember. I studied art throughout high school and received a degree in fine art & design in college.
While learning through school, I spent just as much time learning in the streets and will always continue to learn and develop. It’s what I love 🙂
Influence:
My influence was my surrounding friends. Watching and learning different techniques in graffiti, stencil work & printmaking. I was always in the library reading books like “Getting Up” by Craig Castleman & fascinated by works by Joan Miro and others.
Effect:
I like to bring nature back into the urban setting. Bringing it back into decaying areas of the city as well as peoples homes.
It’s my way of fighting urban sprawl.
Long run:
I’d like to be able to continue to do what I love, continue to learn and to share with others.

Name: kaNO

Location: NYC/LA, bicoastal art hustling

Start date: I’ve been doing art ever since I can remember. It’s always been a part of my life.

Influence: My first major influence was my uncle. He drove a Cadillac, had tattoos, wore leather trench coats and was a really good artist. He was the coolest, RIP Uncle Jorge. Aside from that I was very fortunate to grow up around artists; all of the kids I skateboarded with where artists, they all tagged up, read comics and watched anime. I had older friends that would airbrush jackets and design club flyers, when they were to busy they’d send clients my way. I learned art could be a business at a very young age, because of that…I’ve never had a job in my life that wasn’t an art job.

Effect: In the most simplest terms… I think I want my work to affect people in the same way that good art affects me, I want a person to walk away from one of my art shows with a punch of inspiration to the face and swift kick of motivation to the ass. Go home and pick up a pencil, brush or spraycan, I want my work to make you make something!

Long run: I have no idea where my art will take me or what I’ll be doing in a few years, my current objective is to always stay creatively stimulated. I know I’d like to paint more walls, work on more apparel stuff, design a sneaker or two and maybe do a couple of lectures and stuff. I usually just go about my business, linking up with like-minded people and brands, before I know it… I’m working on something awesome that I never saw coming.

Name : ZROPRO aka Z

Location : Brooklyn, NY

Start date : Tagging on and off during 2010. Slaps 2012 to current.

Influence : Keith Harring, Andy Warhol, Tinker Hatfield, Michael Lau, Ashely Woods, Sket1, Jeff Staple, CoolRain, Frank Kozik, Kano, 123Klan, & Andrew Bell.

Effect : As an artist I hope that my work can inspire others to go out and do what they love without having a second thought (not anything illegal of course haha). If I can influence someone (doesn’t even have to be art related) through my art just like how I was influenced by my peers then my goal as an artist will be fulfilled. Life is too short, so be happy, learn something new everyday, stress less and inspire all!

Long run: In the long run I hope to open up my own design firm, create a successful street clothing line, design a series of urban vinyl figures, and leave my footprint in NYC by pairing some murals.

Start date:  Tagging 92, Seriously 99
Influence: I was influenced indirectly by Salvador Dali, Keith Haring, and Van gogh.
Directly by Pose 2, Joe Base, Sew Sm, Demer, Kasso, Mek, Pike and the crews I paint with Vicious Styles, SFB and UAT
Effect: I really just want to plant seeds and make people think and feel. I just want to see my seeds grow. If only a couple that would be ok but a field would be great.
Long run: I would like to start to do more dimensional work and go bigger and bolder. Just keep creating and evolving.
